Jacques KallisCape Town, Thursday, July 31 – Jacques Kallis, an outstanding batsman and bowler of South Africa, bid adieu to international cricket the earlier day. The proclamation came at a time when splendid show was expected from him in the Cricket World Cup 2015.

The 38-year-old right-handed batsman already took retirement from Test and first-class cricket last year post playing in the second Test against India at Durban. He marked his first appearance in One-Day International matches against England in 1996. Since then Kallis has made his team proud by playing crucial innings. 17 tons and 86 half-centuries in 328 ODI matches are adequate to tell about his remarkable performance on 22 yards pitch against bowlers of different countries.

The highest score hit by this South African all-rounder in ODI match is 139 runs. He has scored 13,289 and 11,574 runs in Test and ODI matches, respectively. The right arm fast-medium bowler took 273 wickets in 50-50 over format match. For a couple of times, this taller cricketer got more than 5 wickets. To find a perfect substitution for Kallis is not going to be easy for the selectors as he had served his team as a true cricketer throughout his career.
